Antivirus & Firewall - These things are absolutely necessary on the internet today, but they are also often over zealous.

For example, many times if you install a software program that your antivirus/firewall vender is not familiar with they will block some or all functions of the software.

So if you know that you are using the correct credentials, yet you always fail to establish an FTP connection, it is a certainty that your software is being blocked.

The fix... Contact your antivirus/firewall vender, tell them the name of the software and that their software is blocking it and you want explicit instructions on how to allow it.

Disappearing Text - If every time you try to enter your credentials when you move to the next box the text disappears from the previous box, this is a simple fix! You just need to run the software as admin.

So, close the software.

Step One - Locate the software icon on your desktop.

Step Two - With your mouse, right-click the software icon.

Step Three - Select "Run as admin" from the menu.

Now when you enter your text, it will stay there for you.
